I’m Quitting!!!!!!!

After many years of being an extremely heavy smoker I have now quit!! It is really hard as I’m not using patches, medication etc, I’m going cold turkey. My last smoke was on Tuesday around 12pm and it’s now Saturday. The cravings have been real nasty at times but so far I have managed to resist.

So why did I decide to quit smoking? Well I am booked in for shoulder surgery on the 18th of this month caused by a work injury back in Oct ‘09. So surgery and the fact that smoking was costing me in excess of $100 per week both had help in my decision.

Massive cleanup on PC

I have spent the morning doing a massive cleanup on my PC. Still plenty to do as far as getting rid of a few things but at least the worst is out of the way.

msconfig – stuff no longer starting up

Disk Cleanup – got rid of alot of crap, temporary files etc

Spybot – full scan

Microsoft Security – full scan

Disk Defrag – took ages but things are back in place

My PC is now starting up alot faster than it was but like most PC’s this won’t last.

Tour Down Under – ARGH!!!!!!

I drive trucks and vans for a living. I’m on the road 10 hours a day and there is nothing worse than being held up in traffic but the delays and detours caused by Adelaide’s Tour Down Under bike race is beyond a joke. Apart from closing main streets in towns (that I somehow need to deliver too) they are closing intersections during peak hour so all the support vehicles can proceed in convoy to the required destination. I was held up this morning for 15 minutes because of this and the worst part……THEY WERE GOING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speed drop looming

Well this weekend has been very quiet online. We are tip toeing slowly towards a speed drop of 64k so no video chats, Youtube video’s or watching any streaming content. I really hate the download limits placed on Australian internet users, yes you can purchase large quota plans but this does come at price. Some people I know do get larger quota’s than myself but have unreliable connections so in a way I am lucky having a very consistent connection. At least by midnight on Sunday our new billing period starts again so all will be good.

I’m melting & ooVooing

Well this weekend has been a stinker with temperatures climbing into the low 40’s C (110F). It is way to hot to go anywhere or do anything so what a perfect time  to catch up with friends around the world on ooVoo.

Various video chats to UK, USA and other states of Australia saw me chatting to some people that I have not seen since before christmas. Shame I didn’t take any snapshots.

2010 – 1 week in

So it’s the first week of the new year and so far things are pretty good.  The Mt. Gambier trip last weekend was great although too short. The Karate Kids had a light training session before the tournament on Sunday.

My son did really well taking out 1st place in Kata and 1st place in Sparring in his division.  He also entered the open Sparring and made it too the finals but had to retire injured (torn ligaments or a fracture, still waiting for results).

So far so good in my son’s world of GKR Karate.

Off to Mt. Gambier this Saturday

First road trip of the new year we are off to Mt. Gambier on Saturday 2nd Jan for a non GKR/NAS junior tournament. My Ninja son (for those that don’t know he does GKR Karate) is entered in a junior tournament. It looks like more of a friendly / experience type of tournament with an 8th Dan Black belt coming from Japan to give advice.

Worst part will be the 5 hour drive home after finishing around 4 – 5pm. I need to get up for work at 4am on the Monday.  :-(

A new begining

With the festive season all but over and a new year just around the corner, I decided to delete all my previous posts and start fresh.
It’s now longer just about my online adventures but I will be posting my offline adventures as well.
